Key facts and figures

Founded in 1960, SIS Paris Ouest now has more than 1350 students enrolled from Pre-school to Year 13.  Two-thirds of our students are in the anglophone section and one-third in the germanophone section.  We have around 60 native-language teachers.

SIS Paris Ouest, milestones:

60 years of native-language bilingual and bicultural education

From year one, 95 students with 14 different nationalities joined the international sections at the Middle School level.

  • 1962 : classes were opened at the High School level
  • 1979 : German Section was added to the programme

The texts at that time already specified that «The bilingual classes are characterised by their distinctive mindset and way in which they operate. For example, parents play a very active role. This close cooperation enhances the development and well-being of the classes».

The International Option of the French Baccalaureate (OIB) was created.

11 May 1981 marked a turning point for SIS Paris Ouest. A decree was passed regulating the operation of international sections in France at the primary, middle school and high school levels.

  • 1984 : creation of the International Option of the French Baccalaureate (OIB). Our students successfully passed the exam.
  • 1986 : SIS Paris Ouest opened Primary level extracurricular classes on Wednesday mornings at the Gambetta Elementary school in Sèvres.  
  • 1995 : first in-house journal was written and published by parents and students. 350 students were enrolled in our Secondary programmes and 210 in our Primary programmes then.

An extended collaboration with the French public education system

  • 2003 : opened integrated classes at the Jean Moulin Middle School in Chaville as well as German Primary Integrated classes at the Gambetta Elementary school in Sèvres.
  • 2008 : opened English Primary Integrated classes at the Gambetta Elementary school in Sèvres.
  • 2010 : opened English Primary Integrated classes at the Point du Jour Elementary school in Boulogne.
  • 2011: transferred all five levels of German Primary Integrated classes to the Croix Bosset Elementary school in Sèvres.
  • 2017: opened Wednesday Secondary Programme in Sèvres.
  • 2018: opened lower Secondary Integrated classes at Collège Gounod and Collège Verhaeren in Saint-Cloud.  English and German Workshops also started on Wednesdays.


SIS Paris Ouest: current figures

More than 1350 students today and 40 different nationalities

More than 950 families living in 3 areas: Hauts de Seine (92), Paris (75) and Yvelines (78).  They are made up of an equal mix of:

  • French families returning from expatriation
  • Bilingual families (one of the parents being anglophone or germanophone)
  • International families

An educational team of more than 60 teachers

  • Presence at 7 public schools in Boulogne Billancourt, Saint-Cloud and Sèvres
  • Anglophone and germanophone sections from Pre-School to Year 13
  • Teaching staff 100% native-speakers in English or German

Our students obtain excellent exam results

  • 100% success rate at the International Option of the French Baccalaureate (OIB) with 92% obtaining distinctions
  • 72% of anglophone students sitting the IGCSE in Year 11 achieve Grade B or better
  • 88% of germanophone students sitting the DSD obtain a merit

Post-Bac studies abroad and in France

  • More than 1 in 3 students from our international sections go abroad to study (UK, Canada, USA, Netherlands, Germany ….) after their Baccalaureate.
  • Other students continue studying in France in various domains: preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles, Engineering schools, Business schools, Political Science studies, universities ….
