No. You are not required to reside in a specific city in order to enroll in our Extension programme. However, children must be fluent in English or German which is determined by our entrance tests.
Yes. Both cities require families to file a "dérogation" or a special exemption from local zoning rules. If your child is eligible for admission into our Integrated programme, you must obtain an exemption from your local "Mairie". Our Admissions Team will be glad to assist you.
INTEGRATED PROGRAMME:
Unless you already know that your child has received a firm offer of a place in one of our International Sections, you should fill in the form for your local collège and follow normal procedure. As soon as your child receives the firm offer from your Department's computerised system called "Affelnet", he or she is automatically admitted to the collège in Chaville, Saint-Cloud or Sèvres. This does not count as an exemption (dérogation) but as an ‘international’ admission procedure. Out of courtesy, you should notify your local collège or your child’s school, as you are freeing up a place there by accepting SIS admission.
Not everyone is aware of the procedure to follow for international sections. It is all rather complex. If your head insists, fill out the request and write COLLEGE GOUNOD or COLLEGE EMILE VERHAEREN or COLLÈGE de SÈVRES or JEAN MOULIN DE CHAVILLE on the line for school. There’s nothing to worry about. When the committee meets to examine the requests for exemptions, international section files are processed differently.
Once in the International Sections, your child will be participating in class trips. Make sure he/she has his/her own passport or identity card (it usually takes at least a month to obtain these papers and can take longer just before school holidays). If you have opted for an identity card, she/he will also need a carte d’autorisation de sortie du territoire (document permitting a minor to leave the country without his/her parents). This is usually valid for 6 months (depending on your local municipality).
