Elementary School Activities

SIS Paris Ouest believes that learning and development extend beyond the classroom. By offering multi-cultural activities in English and German, our students are encouraged to explore their natural talents, expand their creativity and enrich their understanding of other cultures. Our Elementary School students have access to a wide variety of activities.

School trips

SIS Paris Ouest believes that students should be introduced to different types of performing and visual arts.

Anglophone Section : At the end of Year 6 ( 5th grade), students work on plays in class, which they perform for classmates and parents.Theatre workshops run by professionals are offered for Primary integrated students in Year 3 (2nd grade) or above on Wednesday afternoons after classes.

Germanophone Section : Students regularly learn songs and texts which they perform in front of their classmates.

Children enrolled in our Preschool & Primary Integrated and Wednesday School programmes may sign up for workshops (music, games, drama, arts & crafts) in English or German on Wednesdays. The Anglophone Section workshops take place on Wednesday mornings and the Germanophone Section workshops on Wednesday afternoons.

Many events mark the school year and make the primary years ones to remember.

Anglophone Section :

  • Highlights of the December Christmas Party include a group sing-along of carols, a pantomime and a festive snack.
  • The Summer Fair rounds off the year with races, face painting, arts and crafts, 2nd hand book sale and games.

Germanophone Section :

  • In November students celebrate Saint Martin’s Day with a twilight parade illuminated by homemade lanterns. Eating tasty German specialties such as “Weckemänner” marks the beginning of the Christmas season.

  • In December Saint Nicholas visits the German primary classes.

  • To mark the carnival season, primary students come to school dressed in costumes.

  • The Summer Fair is another highlight of the year for students and parents alike.

Special Guests

Anglophone Section : Special guests are invited to share their expertise with students during topic work, for example Year 3 (2nd grade) students receive a visit from an owl and its owner.

Germanophone Section : Guest speakers, actors, writers or even parents are invited to share their experiences or knowledge of German culture with German Primary students.

School Trips

School Trips are organized each year to enrich the pedagogical content of the programme.

To encourage students to read in English or German, a large and varied selection of books is available to students to borrow and consult for reference. Stocks are maintained and new publications added regularly.

Book Club : Organized twice a year, the club gives English Section students the option of purchasing books in English.

Read-a-thon : A meaningful project combining the pleasure of reading with the discovery of a worthy cause and the challenge of raising money for the cause. This has become an annual project for Year 4 (3rd graders) in the Wednesday Primary programme.
